Luke (b. 1992)

Having started learning accordion with Alan Small in 2004, Luke aims to follow in his mentor’s footsteps and be Scottish Accordion Champion one day. He’s also recently begun an accordion repair apprenticeship – so he’ll be a very useful chap for band members to know in years to come!  As well as playing keyboard and drums, Luke has a few non-musical hobbies too - such as motor-biking, films and girls (he adds: “I wish!”). High notes: Coming 2nd in the Polka section at the All Scotland Championships in 2006. 1st Pipe Music section, 2nd Polka section and 3rd Under 16 Traditional section at Musselburgh 2007.

Hannah (b. 1992)

Hannah began learning the fiddle with Ewan Stark in 2002. She’s since taught herself to play the penny whistle and has her sights set on the mandolin next!  Her taste in music is certainly eclectic, ranging from Irish to Indy, pop to punk “and loads more besides”. When not playing in the band, Hannah holds down several part-time jobs and long-term she’d like to work as a music events coordinator, though first she’d like to study at Dublin University. High notes: coming 3rd in the Auchtermuchty pairs competition; a music trip to the U.S.A.; teaching the penny whistle.

Cassie (b. 1992)

Since beginning fiddle lessons with Ewan Stark in 2006, Cassie has been progressing in leaps and bounds. When not playing in the band, she can be found wielding a far more dangerous instrument, namely a hockey stick!

Paul (b. 1992)

Paul took up the accordion in 2005 and it wasn’t long before he was playing with the Early Learning Ceilidh Band.  He doesn’t have a lot of free time, as when he’s not music-making, he’s playing football and especially golf – in fact his main aim is to “win more prizes at golf”.  Fore!

Gary (b. 1992)

Drummer Gary only started learning his craft in 2005, but as anyone who’s heard him play will testify, he’s a fast learner! His current teacher is “Shoogs” (you know who you are?!), and he currently plays with Kirkcaldy Pipe Band. The experience he gains there will no doubt help him to fulfill his long-term ambition, which is “to get to Grade 1 pipe band drumming”. High notes: 1st in the solo drumming competition at Edzell.

Sandy (b. 1993)

A pupil of Brian Schiele, Sandy has been playing the fiddle since 2000. In his spare time he also likes listening to Queen, plus playing hockey and tennis. His ambitions are to pass Grade 8 violin and to become a doctor. A useful person to have around! High notes: Grade 4 violin with merit
